Illuminations and Reflections at the Brink of Change

The rarely performed choral Johannes-Passion of late-Renaissance composer Christoph Demantius is the centerpiece of this unusual program. With it we have paired a lovely mass, Missa super Elisabethae impletum est tempus by Jacobus Gallus, to highlight the unique sensibilities of two artists whose work bridged the distinct styles of the Renaissance and Baroque.
