In dulci jubilo!

Over the past six years the Bach Choir has undertaken a major effort to revive the great polychoral music of Michael Prætorius. Prætorius’ seasonal music, with its lush, traditional harmonies and striking antiphonal effects is some of the most glorious and uplifting ever written. These Christmas concerts have become a special Bach Choir tradition and regularly play to capacity audiences.

The 1995 Christmas concert featured as many as six vocal and instrumental choirs singing and playing from all parts of the church. The choir presented an especially colorful performance, with the added brilliance of the West Coast’s leading early brass ensemble, The Whole Noyse, and the rich sonorities of the new Sex Cordæ Consort of Viols.
